008 : Not rules in golf about club selection.

My old boss, Seb told me this one.

There are no rules in the game of golf stipulating club selection. Players know which club is good for certain shots but the best golfers are creative and innovative about selecting different clubs for different shots.

For your instructional design, there’s not need to be wedded to a specific tool for a specific job. We’ve all got favourite stories, examples, anecdotes and analogies, but take care. I’ve seen the same story being offered time and again when giving feedback to participants and groups. On reflection, it was more about a story that the facilitator wanted to tell, than actually helping the participants land their personal learning.

I understand how a well told story is a teaching tool, but not all teaching tools are right for learning; could you play another shot and use a different club?
